gym membership

I signed up my LO for a gym membership yesterday so that she could have a safe place to walk (with me) on an indoor track (with and without her walker) during the cold weather. I was surprised to find out that with her AARP/United Healthcare, they would pay for her membership and that the YMCA would allow me to be her companion. I will not be able to use the equipment on my own, but can be there with her to assist her. The reality is that she won't be able to use 99% of the equipment there as it is too complicated to get her onto the equipment. I love the fact that we can walk longer distances with the ability to stop multiple times during a lap as they have benches for her to rest on along the way. We can take the walker for one loop and set it to the side for the next loop. It also means that she gets social stimulation and a chance to get out of the house that doesn't cost us anything and we can go anytime! The highlight for her is that there is a daycare with little kids that she can "peak in on." She loves kids and they bring her such joy. Love it.

Sounds great! It is good to hear about win-win. Good news happens sometimes. Nice.
My LO wouldn't go, but I know 2 who probably would. will have them check it out.
