Any experiences with Geo Fencing Devices

Hello All and thank you for sharing your experiences.

My MIL is in an assisted living facility and is not yet in a MC unit. The facility has been excellent for her daily care and we don't want to lose it.

The administration has let us know that if my MIL continues to wander off the premises that they will have to move her.

We are looking for a bracelet or pendant with reliable Geo Fencing capabilities that will alert us if she leaves the premises.

We tried one "watch" with a sim card and GPS but it wasn't reliable.

Anyone have any experience with these?

Thanks

CM

I’m surprised her AL doesn’t already have this- or maybe they do and that is what alerts them to her wandering.  My parent’s AL gives each resident a pendant that they can use to call for assistance.  For anything including getting an item off a shelf or fixing the TV.  It alerts the staff if they walk so far away from the building.  Of course, the barn door is already open at that point.

    Thanks Quilting!

Unfortunately their pendant is only to call for medical emergencies- Doesn't have GPS.

I use to test these devices but no longer familiar with the latest ones. Why do you say it was not reliable. Geo Fencing are great tools. Many of them require a monthly fee.

From what you said, it sounds like a GPS device will not solve the problem, even if it alerts to wandering off property.  Most AL facilities do not have staffing to go after an eloper even if they know where to find them.

Your LO is no longer in an appropriate level of care, no matter how much you like the current care.

    Time for the MC.
