Question concerning POA

Hi, I'm hoping for some help? My DH was diagnosed in July with Alzheimer's. Doctor told me I needed to get a durable POA. At first I had thought of just getting forms on line, and filling out and then having them witnessed and notorized. However, I m afraid my husband cannot even communicate reasonable enough for notary to agree to notarize. So, I think I will contact an elder attorney. What are your thoughts?

I think that contacting an elder care or an estate attorney is a good choice. There are a lot of considerations for obtaining POA, and they will help you understand all of the responsibilities you are taking on. There are different types of POA, such as for property and for healthcare. Make sure that you have coverage for both, and that you have successor agents in place. Successor agents will come into play if/when you are no longer able to make decisions. It's your opportunity to define who you want to have responsibility to make decisions on your behalf. If you have nothing in place, you risk being at the mercy of the court/state.0
