Best wishes for the New Year
Caregiving is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life.
I was blessed to be able to be by my husband's side on his Alzheimer's journey. DH passed in April 2022. I now assist in the care of my mother. The journey with my mother is different, because my role is different. But it is still very very hard.
One thing that I do that gives me strength is verbalizing gratitude. Here is a short example:
- I am grateful that the journey with my husband allowed me to learn skills to assist my dad to care for my mother.
- I am grateful that I am able to show my mother love and that she currently knows that she is loved.
- I am grateful for the caregiver heroes here who continue to share and support each other as we walk this difficult path.
- I am grateful for the freshness of a new year.
Blessings to you all.

Lady Texan it’s so good to see your post! I hope you have been taking care of yourself. You always encourage me by just letting us know there’s always something to be grateful for if we will just take the time to look. I do try harder now than I did in the beginning of our journey down this road. I thank you for that!
Best wishes for you in this coming new year! May God bless you and your family!!

LT,
You wrote, "My wish for all of us is that we see the joy and feel the joy when it happens."
Amen to this! It's a perfect wish.
Happy New Year to you, and you all out there. You give me solace, comfort, and a chuckle when I need it.0
