The Numbers Are Coming In On Seroquel

First of all, I have to admit that I was giddy and almost filled with joy as I logged on and then how quickly my mood changed when I scanned over the other posts here. This sickness is taking its toll on everyone involved. It *$%& sucks! Sorry for cursing and sorry to all those that are dealing with this. There is no giddy...there is no joy. And the light at the end of the tunnel is a horrible shade of black. From giddy to this... in seconds.

Anyway, I was just going to report on the "Sundowning and Seroquel" factor. And I know I'm probably jumping the gun, but this is day 3 where four o'clock has come around WITHOUT INCEDENT!! She's been on Seroquel for 2 1/2 weeks now. There's still all the other stuff but not this manic, paranoia at dusk. Again, it's only been 3 days but I'm hopeful. Just makes me believe I can keep up for longer. I hope I can.

Hello Floyd.  Seroquel initially in a very light dose but slowly increasing over the last 4+ years has been a life saver for my DW and I.  Rick

    I'm so happy for you.

Sadly, seroquel didn't work for my DH. Does it matter which dementia, or is it basically per individual, whether a certain medication works or not?

From my experiences dealing with this... It's kind of a crap shoot. I don't think they know enough to fully battle this disease. I mean, I asked her doctor for the Seroquel and with little discussion, she filled the prescription. Which is what I wanted, but shouldn't there have been more... I don't know. And I found out about the Seroquel here, not by any of her doctors. So, they probably have dozens of meds that we never hear about. Shouldn't they be making suggestions?
