While waiting in an ER hallway for more than 18 hours I played music on my phone whenever DH was getting a stick or felt anxious. I have about 4 or 5 songs that I play over and over for him. Really helps to calm him down.

Elcy, 18 hours?!? That is horrible; I'm so sorry you had to do that. And I'm glad the songs gave him comfort. My mom had a "hospitalization from hell" while still in AL, and at one point was placed in a double room, on a bed less comfortable than a WWII army cot, with a roommate who had her tv blaring at midnight. I set up some of Mom's favorite music on my phone, and tucked the earbuds in her ears. She did enjoy that.
How are things standing now after the ER visit?
