Senior Babysitting

I've tried to find a sitter for my mom I think twice, and I only found people who would do full time or part time. None for like 4 hours. Anyone here of such a business? Or do I have to place an ad on Craigslist or something. That was a joke...I think.

My mother, caring for my DF w/Alz, contacted their local center on aging. My parents' situation met the criteria for her to have so-many-hours of respite care a month. A caregiver/ companion comes and stays w/my Dad for a few hours at a time.~ My mom schedules it in advance.

There is also a company called Home Instead or you could try to find someone on Care.com

    Hope this helps.

When I contacted agencies like Home Instead, and Caring Angels, they wanted a commitment of a set number of hours per week.  For me that didn’t work, as I needed carers only a few times a month.  Through Care.com I was able to find caregivers who were willing to work with me like that.   Their cost per hour ranges from $25 to $35.   I also have a caregiver that I found through a friend who takes care of his mother with Alzheimer’s.  We “share” this caregiver and it works well for all of us.  I always check with my friend before I ask this caregiver for hours, to make sure the caregiver is not needed for his mother at that time.

Care.com may have people with more flexibility. Also, the Nextdoor app may be helpful.  Maybe someone right in the neighborhood can help.
