Another setback

DH has been in memory care since mid August 2022. He has fallen many times, had some seizure like events and many other problems. We live in NC and the intestinal flu has been rampant. Sure enough he got it and along with it, severe diarrhea and vomiting. Several of the med techs and aides got it and....I got it a few days ago. I have never thrown up so much or had such bad diarrhea in my life. Now I feel weak as a cat and don't  have the strength to even visit him.Just seems we get over one trauma only to have it replaced by another one.

I wonder if other areas have an uptick in that stomach virus?

I'm so sorry Elshack. I know exactly what you're going through. The memory cares around here cycle through a norovirus outbreak every year about this time, during Feb and March. It's a horrible thing. My mom got it last year. And then I got it while taking care of her. It was absolutely horrible and I thought I was going to die. She seemed to get over it within a couple weeks but I was sick for a couple months. She ended up in the hospital with dehydration. The only advice I have to offer is Gatorade, lots of it. Sending hugs and healing thoughts your way!

Noroviris is a likely culprit Elshack, I'm so sorry.  It's the virus that many times causes outbreaks on cruise ships, and it's very very contagious--spread by respiratory route in addition to contact on surfaces, etc.  My partner and I both had it a couple of years ago after a routine trip to her ophthalmologist.  landed her in the hospital.  Please take good care of yourself.
