How to explain going to memory care

There seems to be a lot of topics on this question.  I don’t know how to explain to my husband that he needs to go to memory care and can’t stay home any longer. He of course wants to be home, but I can’t support him there. Any suggestions or things you have done that worked would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry to know you're faced with these things. It's not easy. I've dealt with the same but it was with my mom, not my husband.

My suggestion would be NOT to say it's a memory care facility. My mom is in a memory care/assisted living facility. No where does it mention memory care in its name. Actually, it states a senior lifestyle residence. So I'd leave it as an assisted living facility. My mom also doesn't believe she has a serious problem, so for me this was an important topic. Quite often the facility staff will help with suggestions. I was told to blame the doctor. I would say the doctor says this is a great place and they will be able to assist with his needs 24/7. You'll be there to visit often and to give it a try and after a week or two, you'll both reevaluate. Keep pushing this off each week if it comes up. It very well may not come up. Quite often our LO doesn't have a grip on time. Keep reading through the posts on related topics and hopefully more responses that are helpful will come your way. I wish you all the best. It's not easy.
