Separating mom from LO

My parents are together all the time. It is taking its toll on my mom. They both now live with us to make life easier for hem, but my dad migrated to every room she is in without fail. I know she is the anchor for him but she needs a break. Any suggestions on keeping him occupied for more than 10 minutes before he goes to look for her.

Dad may need someone with him to distract him from your mom for periods of time or a way for your mom to step out and get some time to herself while dad is with you. Sounds like dad’s attention span is short and he then starts to look for his wife for security.0

This behavior is called shadowing. Mom is his preferred person and source of security in an unfamiliar world. This cab really wear on caregivers.
The only answer to this is having one of them leave the house. Either mom sneaks out and does something to re-charge her batteries or dad is taken out for a shopping trip or other errand. A day program for dad a few days a week could be really helpful for your mom as well.
