Wishing and hoping

Hi,

My Mom thanked me, by sending a picture in a text, for a necklace for Valentine's Day. Apparently someone did a very nice thing, and sent her a heart necklace, in the mail; the accompanying note was sweet and was signed my Dad's name (ADLO.)

She thought I had sent it, since it seemed like something I (their daughter) would do, but alas, I did not know anything about it. My Mom and I talked on the phone~I told her it wasn't me and my husband; we discussed who might've sent it.

Later, I had the wishful notion that maybe my Dad (diagnosed 7 yrs ago this June) had a moment of clarity: know Valentine's Day was coming (he doesn't know what month, day, year it is), was able to log onto his computer, log onto Amazon, remember why he was on the computer, navigate looking for a present, buy it (supposing there was saved, not expired cc info), write the sentiment for the note. My husband reminded me how many yrs it had been since my Dad was able to do computer work.

I know it was wishful, denial thinking. I am very aware of his limitations and progression. I guess one sometimes wants to hope their loved one has a moment of clarity, isn't really as bad off as you know they are. (They're just faking all this time right?!) Anyway, I know it was silly, nonsensical to think he could've managed that.

Someone, a friend or one of my brothers/sisters-in-law, did a very sweet thing for my Mom.
