Voice Change?

As my mother progressed through cognitive decline, her voice and the way she spoke changed. First she shifted into a low voice and slow speaking style, then later there was a shift into a higher pitched voice.  Sometimes she shifted back to her normal voice and speaking style and in her final months she returned to her normal voice as well.

Has anyone else experienced this?

My mom has something similar.  She has been diagnosed with probably Lewy Body Dementia. I've noticed lately that her speaking voice has softened, lower in tone and slower speaking when she is awake and alert.  But when she is having REM dreams or hallucinating she is MUCH louder and her pronunciation is much more crisp.  Its really strange and I wonder if that's common with this dementia.

My wife often whispers, sometimes so softly that I can't even hear her at all.

A soft voice can be associated with Parkinson's Disease.
