Okay Hospice just left and my DH was much weaker. Not sure he will make another shower.  He had trouble following directions.  I wish they could say that it means he has so many days left.  I know it depends on a person and how much they can or can't give up.  In my mind I have already lost him.

I know your feelings very well as my wife also suffered from vascular dementia, And she actually went from eating walking and talking and in three days something happened she no longer could talk she would no longer eat and she could no longer walk. However, I did get her to drink smoothies and that kept her going for six weeks. it's hard for Hospice to really know how long somebody will last, it's not until approximately the last week or so that they can pick a definite timeline, until then it just becomes a waiting game. I'm sorry to tell you that I wish God's blessings on you and your husband as you come to his final days.

Thank you so much for your kind words.  I dread and yet wish for the time I see his chest no longer rise.  Then I will know he is whole again in Heaven.
