Dementia Phone

Maybe you all know about this but just in case it would be a help to someone I am sharing.  When my husband couldn't use his cell phone anymore nor learn another simpler version, I found a cell phone specifically for dementia patients.  It is called a RAZ phone.   I purchased it a couple of years ago for about $400.   You have an app you use to install pictures of people that the patient may need to call or to receive calls and it has been a life saver.

In California, the state can provide a free landline telephone with photos like you're talking about.  Other states may have similar programs.

Thank you for sharing this information. I've not heard of the RAZ phone. I had a friend ask me if there was anything like that just the other day. Now I can call her and share this with her.

All good information to know. Mom (PWD) ruined her cell phone and was obsessing over it anyway. Still I would love for her to have a way to talk to family that does not involve using my cell phone. I still work full time and get texts, emails, and calls. Not to mention, if I turn my back she starts doing all sorts of things to it! I will definitely be looking into the RAZ phone and seeing if the state helps in any way.

I called ATT a couple of days ago to get a landline. The customer service agent had his father with dementia move in a year ago. He told me the landlines weren't so great anymore and not being kept up and recommended this device to me. It hasn't arrived yet, but I'm kinda excited about it. My DW would just lose any portable phone at this point anyway, so maybe she can make a few calls to family with this setup.
