Humor

Has anyone else found humor in this? I was just talking to DH about legal matters going forward if we do get an Alzheimer's diagnosis. I said I'd need to change my medical POA so that my son would be first, and his wife would be second if my son is unable to do it. It was a rough thing to talk about. But, I got through to him, I thought. I told him that he couldn't be my medical POA if he couldn't take in new information. So, he said, "But, why do I have to change MY POA?" I said...NOT YOU!...ME! And, he started cracking up. He was joking about not understanding what I meant. OMG I love this guy. That laugh did more good than anything I can imagine.

You are lucky! Many people would not take kindly being told they could not do that anymore. I'm glad he still has a sense of humor.

That is great. Just a chuckle can feel so good, they are so rare for me. Once in awhile I get a chuckle here just because I can so relate to it.

My partner, bless her, can still make me laugh like no one else and we always tried to maintain a sense of humor. It does help. Success was variable, but we tried/still try.

When we were married and blended into two families, my son toasted us. He said that he had never heard his mom laugh as she did with her new partner. That was so true. My DH did and still does make me laugh. Thank goodness for that.

My wife still has a sense of humor. She catches me off guard a lot more so I don't see the joke coming but she still cracks me up on a regular basis.

The other day my wife was obsessing that she wanted to leave, through her tears she said she wanted to go home, even if she didn’t know where that was. I sometimes tell her that no matter where I was, as long as I was with her, I was home. So I tried it again.
My wife said, “Thank you.... that didn’t help much.”

DH always had a dry sense of humor. Now his humorous remarks are accidental. I like to pretend they are intentional.

I regularly clean and add a new battery for my DW hearing aids. The other day I was doing my maintenance and got one in her ear and it was working. I couldn't find the second one and my first thought was she misplaced it and I would have to add the hearing aids to the list of things I have to look for like her purse, ear rings, monies. In any case she was hearing well using one, so I let it go. About 15 minutes later I felt something in my ear and sure enough I had put the hearing aid there to "test it" before giving it to her. So, here I am now feeling guilty for blaming her and wondering how I could have not noticed. I have never worn hearing aids, so it is a foreign object in my ear.

We take our chuckles anyway we can get them :)
