I was wondering if anyone has had the experience of their LO getting so cold suddenly that his teeth were chattering. He had dinner and was fine and the next thing I knew he was freezing. I took his temp and it was 96.7. I wrapped him in a blanket and he gradually warmed up. His temp back to 98.7.

This is the second time he has done this in the last few months and I was curious if anyone else has experienced this and if it goes along with dementia.

Call your PCP and tell them. Had he had something really cold to drink?

Nothing like that. Good idea to inform his physician.

Ive not heard of problems with temperature regulation being part of AD but i suppose it's possible. Makes me wonder about a,UTI though, could he have been having a chill without fever.

Thank you all for your comments. I was thinking a UTI since he has a history of them. Makes me relieved to know this is probably not a symptom of dementia. I will check with PCP on this.

This sounds like something called "rigors" which can occur with a UTI. Have his urine tested.

Those UTIs can cause all different kinds of symptoms, including severe confusion. Any time you have sudden changes, it is worth having him checked for a UTI, even if you don't think he has one.
