Hello,my wife at stage 6E started taking risperidone 0.5mG five days ago at bedtime .this morning she is to shakey and to off balance to walk on her own. I am afraid she will fall.Has anyone had any ..experience with risperidone like this. I will call her Nero phyc and ask as well. The med seems to be reducing her resistance to care and combativeness which is a big help. I will deeply appreciate all information thank you

I've learned each person may respond differently to various meds. My father was on risperidone for a week and we had to take him off. He was very off balance - but compelled to almost run, tipping forward and falling. Very dangerous (as far as his reaction to this medicine). We moved him to Seroquel - and at the lower doses was okay. Had to increase due to his aggressive behavior - and boy did his walking deteriorate. Almost immediately. Went from walking on his own to barely being able to even use a walker. We are scaling down the dosage slowly - with medical observation - to see if he can regain balance and leg strength. He is in MC so has access to geri psych docs as well as physical therapists. It definitely takes a village....
