My LO has young onset, lately she has been more agitated if she has to wait for anything. Waiting in the car in drive thru, waiting for me to pick her up. I mean just minutes and she is Furious. And it's hours to calm her back down. I don't understand what the trigger is. Any ideas, suggestions.

    The trigger is waiting.

I would consider adding a geripsych to her team. Sometimes this irritability can be a symptom of depression and/or anxiety. The judicious use medication might help her quality of life because the alternative is to make her world smaller and easier for you to control.

Maybe adjust the time of things for when you’re picking her up. Tell you’ll be there at 9 but get there at 8:30. As far as waiting in lines, I might talk to her about the poor people in front of you (although empathy is lacking for many dementia patients), like telling her some kind of sad sack story about them. Little fibs (fiblets) and validation of their feelings can go a long way.

These are just the first thoughts I had while reading your post. I’m sorry for these trials.
