From A. Marie: Entering Stage 8, and thanks to you all
I've only ever commented here occasionally, and this is my first (and possibly last) post on the new site. But I just wanted to let you know that my DH (age 74) died on Sunday 6/4, after struggling with Alzheimer's since 2011 (as I've realized in hindsight), getting as close to a formal diagnosis as possible in 2018, and being in an SNF since 2021.
The Spouse/Partner list has been my lifeline ever since I discovered it. I would be utterly remiss if I did not thank you all for everything I've learned here. I've gotten more out of lurking here than I've gotten from all the professionals I've consulted. Ed1937 in particular deserves a halo. Blessings on you all.

Marie,
I am sorry to learn of your loss. I, too, entered stage 8 recently (April 21) after DH’s long journey with Alz. Yes, this forum has been a lifeline through it all and “Mayor” Ed has been a rock for everyone for as long as I’ve been a member, regardless of their dilemma, rant, question, concern……..a halo is appropriate! I hope you find peace and happiness as you navigate the aftermath. Bless you.

Thank you for mentioning my name, but this thread is not about me or anyone else here. It's about seeing this job coming to an end, and searching for a new life. Anytime you might feel like posting, please do. We'll be here for you. I wish you well.
