Back from respite care

My s.o. put the plan together so quickly I could barely believe it. But he did. I called everyone in my small, but very excellent team (Peggy's friends M and D, and my two outside caregivers), and Peggy's memory care facility, so everyone knew I'd be away for essentially three days. It was Monday afternoon through this afternoon.

We didn't go camping, but we did get to do a lot of hiking out in the woods. We got to do three mile hikes on Tuesday and on Wednesday. Being out like that was really restorative. I'm not completely rested (I think I need months for that to happen), but at least it's taken the edge off.

My sister's memory care facility had a special dinner this evening for caregivers and residents of memory care. Obviously I couldn't go, having just got back, but one of my outside caregivers went with Peggy. She sent me a short video of Peggy and the Elvis impersonator, and Peggy was clearly having a great time.

So yeah, a good last few days - and good for Peggy too.

Now I'm listening to a short gothic playlist I put together, and I'm ready to get back in the ring again. :)

You're a great sister Gothic. I'm glad you had some time to recharge, get away a bit, and enjoy the restorative powers of nature. There really is nothing like hiking to make one feel better about life.

Man, I bet you wish you hadn't missed the Elvis impersonator. But there's always a next time. 😉

Yeah, Elvis - not my thing. The closest I've ever gotten to Elvis is the movie Bubba Ho-Tep starring Bruce Campbell as Elvis. 🙂
