Does Original Medicare Cover PCA services

Anyone know if Medicare covers PCA care?

    By pca do you mean a personal care assistant? The short answer is no, they dont. They will cover some limited home health services in an immediate post hospital period but usually quite limited. You might try your local council on aging, sometimes there are limited local grants that can be of some help.

    Many people are shocked to learn that Medicare does not cover long-term care needs. Many have to apply for Medicaid, which does, but coverage varies by state. Worth talking to a certified elder law attorney because it's complicated.

    M1 Thanks for your advice! I've been putting off the lawyer's appointment but we're getting there. Financially. my DH will be eligible for Medicaid, but I think it will be complicated b/c we live half the year in NY and half in MA.
