Good Afternoon. I am new to this forum and am so thankful it exists. My parents, who are 90, still live independently in their own home. My mom has survived 2 strokes and is diagnosed with dementia. My dad is her primary caregiver. He is committed to my mom, dotes on her every need, and wants so badly to cure her. My beautiful mom is living in a world of disbelief about my Dad. She is often accusing him of being unfaithful to her, that he does not love her, along with many other comments. She continues to say demeaning things about herself, particularly that she is stupid, old, and ugly. She has actually started writing these feelings down so she can look back at her notes throughout the day. This is taking a toll on my Dad as he is heartbroken and weary. We are looking for suggestions as to what to do or say when my mom is in this state of mind. Thank you so much.
