MIL (after getting bathroom assistance) : I don’t like having people in the bathroom with me. Maybe it’s my ego.

MIL (after a nasty tirade directed at me): Am I being a pain in the ass?

Upon hearing a relative and me laughing out loud at something, my mother in a cranky voice: "Oh for Pete's sake; don't have an organism!"

Q: Why will you not use your cane, as the doctor has recommended?

Actual answers we get: It makes me look old. It trips me up. I only need it when I fall. It hurts my arm. It is antique and is not meant to be used. (I highly doubt the aluminum one is antique...)

MIL after remembering, with a great deal of assistance, how to drink from a straw: “this is really handy. We should have some of these at home.”

My DH has been reading to me from his book about horses. He covered foals and stallions. When he got to the next paragraph he said, "oh no, I don't even want to think about geldings."

MIL and I are hanging out in the MC dining area when the kitchen staff starts settling up for dinner.

MIL: can I help you with that?

staff: no thanks, you just sit there and look pretty.

MIL: (long pause) I think I know how to do that.

On Tuesday my MIL was very annoyed that I came to visit and told me she was too busy to see me. Today (Thursday) she said “I’m so glad you’re here. I haven’t seen you in months and months”!

So I was just posting to Quiltingbringscalm on this forum, who is back at the ER with her mother. And I got to thinking: she’s been to the ER with her LO multiple times, as have I and probably most of you who read this.

It’s not our first rodeo. Does that make us rodeo clowns??
