She's Still Got It!
Mom is 85 and has ALZ related dementia. She has been in MC for 2 years now. She has neuropathy and diabetes and her feet are darkening and swelling. She won't let the CNA's walk her around to help her circulation, but insists she walks all the time. My brother visits once a week and walks with her; I live out of state, but manage to 2x a month. This was the conversation last week.
Me (frustrated): 'Ma, you have to let them walk you around when Craig doesn't come. You see how your feet are? The doctors said if they keep going the way they are, they may have to amputate your foot'.
Ma: He cut off my foot and I'll kick his butt! And then use the other one to kick you and Craig's butt for letting them!
When I repeated back what she said, we laughed soooo hard! Then she said, 'it's this smog!, we need to be suing the Canadians for better air!' OMG! I had no idea she knew what was going on! We laughed harder and harder than that. Talk about a window!!! It was such a joyful day!
