    Hi Jo,

We had a discussion on who's version was better. Perry's or Elvis's. Just thinking of all of you,

    Hi Iris and all,

That song was written by Don McLean, who also wrote American Pie. A bit of trivia... When I was in hs/college, i was a member of an all girl folk singing group. We performed all over the North east college circuit, and Don McLean was always on the bill. He heard me doing a solo one night and weeks later invited me to become a part of his trio. I had pneumonia at the time and missed that opportunity.

A few years later, he had the number one hit in the country! Who knew? "The road not taken". lol

Maureen, I'm so sorry you missed your opportunity to sing with Don McLean! I do remember American Pie. It was usually played late at night on the radio. I think that song might have contributed to my becoming a night-owl! (smile)

I really didn't have to be reminded about "American Pie". Now I've got another song running around in my head. I feel a need for a little whiskey and rye (even though my last drink was in 1979. 🙂 Sorry you missed the chance Maureen.
