VA Disability Letter

My DH served in Viet Nam and was in Camp LeJeune. I received a letter from VA about the right to apply for disability etc. because of agent orange in Viet Nam and then the burn pits in Camp Lejeune. They said that his service locations/timing made his eligible for "presumptive cause." It gave a deadline in which to file. I did submit the claim and will see what happens.

Has anyone had experience or received a letter like this?

I have not heard of anyone here receiving that letter, but I do want to wish you luck. I hope you can get it on the first try.

    Hi Denise,

I also received a letter from the VA. This is a new program and it covers a wide range of illnesses and disabilities that have resulted from toxic or chemical exposure. There is a long list, and ALZ and other dementias are almost a certain guarantee that you will receive compensation if your vet has had exposure . This is a result of the PACT ACT, that was recently passed by a bi partisan vote in congress.I learned about this through a visit with our County VA agent.

    Here's hoping,

    Maureen

    Hi Maureen,

It would be wonderful if something came from it. What a terrible thing to think that our loved ones are now suffering from supporting their country.

    Good luck with the process.
