Shunt responsive NPH

neurologist just called and said looking at imaging she is fairly certain the diagnosis is shunt responsive NPH. I have an appt with neurosurgery at the top hospital next week which I already made because this neurologist was terrible and never called me back (this is the first time after having seen my mom 9 months and 1 month ago.)

Anyone have experience with this? Advice on questions to ask? How pissed should I be if I think we could have known this 6 months ago?

This is overall good news and is why brain imaging is so important. A common procedure is to do a large-volume spinal tap before placing a permanent shunt: if she responds well to removal of the fluid, it will bode well for maybe seeing real improvement with a shunt. the unanswerable question is how much of what you are seeing is reversible and how much may already be permanent. No way to answer that, unfortunately. Keep us posted---
