Best Practices?

Hello! I've seen the phrase, "Best Practices," here in the forum. Where can I go online to get more information? Many thanks!

When I first joined in 2009, this is what I learned about Best Practices:

    *take medications as prescribed

*eat the Mediterranean diet with fruits snd vegetables for antioxidants and fish and nuts for omega-3 fats--this may be called the MIND diet

    *exercise vigorously to tolerance

*continue to stimulate the brain--not just puzzles, but learn new things

*continue to socialize--best in small groups or one-on-one--consider a Memory Club

Also, avoid stress and anxiety, which decrease cognition by HALF.

    Get good sleep.

Consider alternative or complementary practices, such as aromatherapy, as desired. There are many threads on aromatherapy.

Following Best Practices will not cure dementia, but may improve functioning and may prolong the early stages.
