My moms fatigue

Hello, new to the group. My mom has had Alzheimer’s for 10 years and sleeps until noon every day.y question is when do I get concerned with her fatigue? Some days she’s gone other days she’s exhausted. Of course we are also battling constant UTIs and have purchased bidets to try and help. Advice?

Longer + longer sleeping time is very common as AZ progresses. IMO if she is getting repeated UTIs, + Dr has no objection, I would be giving her D-Mannose daily as a preventative. It does. not typically have any side effects except stopping chronic UTI. I’d start with 1/2 scoop daily in liquid. it has worked very well for me + many friends who have recurring UTIs

Hi Jen. Welcome to the forum, but wish nobody needed it.

I agree that longer sleep patterns are common, and typically nothing to be concerned about.

My wife had recurring UTIs too. I used TheraCran One (https://www.amazon.com/TheraCran-Cranberry-Supplement-Capsule-Supports/dp/B06WGSJG33), and it was a huge help. The supplement Terei mentioned is also a popular one.

The bidet is a good idea. I bought one, and I think the combination of it and the supplement worked very well for my wife.

If she is incontinent, then you have to make sure she remains clean. That is a major problem for UTIs. The bidet will help with that, but more thorough cleaning may be needed too. A shower is almost a must if incontinence is a problem.
