ER with two with dementia

MC called and said I need to take my mom to ER. Room is crowded and DW has been acting out emotionally a lot. All is calm now but underlying stress as the longer we are here the worse things might become. Lord have mercy!! Santa Maria Madre de Dios!

Here comes the endless repeat questions and whining until I finally start showing I'm getting annoyed. Once my DW picks up on that the drama begins.

Now they are both cold and my mom wants me to go see what taking so long. We've been checked in and triaged. Waiting for a bed. They are getting fidgety and just hope they don't go into full sundown mode.

I'm stressed and already annoyed as my mom won't let up wanting me to go in and see.

I also spent the afternoon at the ER with my DH. He's had heightened confusion and agitation for the past few days. I suspected a UTI. I tried taking him to the urgent care for a urinalysis. He freaked out and they basically kicked us out. I spoke to the sub at our memory care practice today and she suggested the ER. Turns out all labs were clear. So I got to spend a rough 5 hours at the ER with someone who became more and more agitated as the afternoon wore on, all to be told "it's probably just progression."

So, just sending some empathy your way GHP. Hope you enjoyed that beer.

I'm sorry you all had to go through that. Just going to ER by yourself is no fun, but when you add dementia, it just makes it almost impossible.
