Any recommendations for floor mat alarm?
Hello,
We are in stage 6 and DH is having restlessness all night long. This has resulted in 2 falls in the past 2 nights, and no sleep for me. I want to get an alarm for the bed and for his chair so that i or a caregiver will be alerted to his movements but am clueless about what to buy. Any input would be helpful. Now i understand why hospitals use restraints.
Thanks,
Maureen

I should add that he currently has a bad UTI, so doctor isn't prescribing any calmative meds.

Hi Maureen. I used a bed alarm like this. https://www.amazon.com/Smart-Caregiver-Wireless-Alarm-System/dp/B07RCYD69T/ref=sr_1_6?crid=3JQ0AVU9S51UG&keywords=smart+caregiver+bed+monitor&qid=1693352192&sprefix=smart+caregiver+bed+monitor%2Caps%2C134&sr=8-6&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.18630bbb-fcbb-42f8-9767-857e17e03685#customerReviews I had pretty good luck with it, although it was not instantaneous when she moved off the pad. But within a few seconds it would sound. On very rare occasions the alarm failed. Maybe twice with about 2 years of use. If that happens, I think it's time for a new mat.
The link will take you to one that does not come with an AC adapter, which I would recommend. The one I have has the adapter. The last time it was used was early May 2022. You can buy the mat by itself if needed. They don't last forever, but they come with a one year warranty. I replaced the pad once, and it was pretty reasonably priced.
Also available are floor pads and the alarms that work with a laser beam, but I have no experience with them.
If you want to try the one I have, I'd be happy to send it to you as long as the shipping charges were not more than twenty dollars. I'll take care of the shipping. Just let me know if you want it. If you do, you'll have to send me a message with name and address. I'll get it out ASAP.
I should have mentioned that I'm a light sleeper, and I usually woke up when she got out of bed, alarm or no alarm.

I use a motion detector.
It has a wide range sensor, no getting past it
