Diabetes 3 and can Dementia be reversed with the right diet?
So the human body can run on two fuels, glucose and ketones. Glycogen is stored in the liver and muscles and is the main source of fuel for the body. When the liver and muscles run out of available glucose it switches to ketones. Around 100 years ago they found out infants that had seizures and were put on a low carb diet would cease to have seizures. Doctors are now putting their diabetic patients on Ketogenic diets and basically reversing the patients diabetes. The human brain is nearly 60 percent fat. We've learned in recent years that fatty acids are among the most crucial molecules that determine your brain's integrity and ability to perform. So what if the body is running fine on glucose but the brain isn’t. The brain can run perfectly fine on ketone bodies, and in fact as Matthew Mcconaughey, mentions in his book Green light that he would have tested clinically smarter when his body was in a ketogenic state. Ketosis doesn't mean you don’t eat any carbs it’s just you drastically reduce your carbs. Meaning you mainly eat fat and protein. Again, your brain is comprised of 60% fat. Anyone see the connection? Why is dementia so rampant now? Remember the low fat craze of the 90’s? I’ve been on a ketogenic diet for 6 months on and off and lost 30 pounds. I’ve tried this with my mom but every time I go over there she has restocked the shelves with carbs, carbs and more carbs. They say that dementia started 7 years before symptoms really arise or become noticeable. My moms symptoms became noticeable about 5 years ago and she’s probably stage 4 or 5 now. I’m just putting this out there for anyone who has someone who has someone that is in the earlier stages because I honestly think it could be reversed.
