Hello group. I’m new to this forum and I’m looking for resources and help with my mother. My husband and I just moved in with her. Her sundown has her kicking us out every night. How can I divert this behavior or learn how to deal with it without it hurting me? Are there zoom support groups? Are there any 12 step programs?

i understand this is a disease and it’s not here. I would love help with communicating with her when she reacts and gets angry. I get triggered and sometimes I make it worse.

thank you.

Hi Mammapaps - welcome to 'here', but sorry for the reason. This is a great resource right here, and you can check out various topics.

First - don't argue with her. It doesn't work and would just get both of you more agitated. It would be like trying to reason with a cat. You cannot.

You could check for a support group in your area or on zoom. (someone else may have more info on that) Is it only sundowning time that she is agitated? There are meds that could calm the agitation without becoming zombie-ish. Do tell her doc about that.

Do read the book "The 36-hour day" - helpful information.

You could try the Alz.org helpline, 1-800-272-3900, they are available 24 hours a day. You might also check out you tube videos by Dementia Careblazers.
