There are two things that help me. First is a doorbell camera. It alerts me whenever my husband goes out the door. The second thing is an air tag. It fits on a keychain and if he leaves I can track him with my cellphone. I hope this helps. Others may have ideas also.

Cell phone are also so easily lost; I would not want to count on that alone as the safety measure; so it is good you are not continuing with that. If there is concern re his walk-abouts; there are probably other issues that need to be addressed when he is alone, some of which has already been mentioned. Is there a way for him to have a walking companion even if you have to pay someone to go with him? Is he reliable for scheduling his walk with someone or does he simply go out when the spirit moves him?

Does he have a medical bracelet on his wrist or on a neck chain with identifying information should he become injured or lost? Things can change in an instant when we least expect it and he may benefit from having such a bracelet, etc. Carrying ID in a pocket is a choice, but in an emergency, that can be easily lost.

So hope you find something or someone to help. Let us know what you decide; it would be good to know if it works well.
