detailed question list to assess progression?
Sometime in the past, I did an interview as part of some research study and I was asked a series of really detailed questions about what my partner could and couldn't do for herself. The questions really got me thinking and now that some time has passed, I'd love to look at that list again and think about how the answers have changed. For example, I think there was a question like "can she do her own laundry?" and when I said "sort of," there were probes such as "can she operate the washing machine correctly?' "can she sort the clothes in the hamper?" "can she identify when her clothes are clean or dirty?"
Does anybody know whether this is a standard list of questions, or was it specific to that study? does this sound like an ADL or IADL checklist?

You can Google IADL for a generalized checklist.

Thanks, Iris, I think that's what it was. I think they probably administered the Lawton scale orally and then probed with follow up questions, and that's what I'm remembering. Definitely some big changes since that study!

I think it is a good idea to periodically monitor IADLs, say, every six months. I believe this is more useful for the family than periodic mental status screening tests in the doctor's office.

Wow - that's the level of detail I was thinking of! I need to sit with this and a computer with an actual keyboard and make some notes. She puts on a good show for her providers and nobody ever asks me for more info about what actually goes on at home. I may need to print this out for her next appointment. Thanks!

@HollyBerry I think any specific documentation we can provide is helpful.. I’m going to do this as well: if only for my own understanding..
