Head Fog
I was recently Dx with MCI at age 62. Had to stop working. Worked over 40 years as a professional in the health field. Familiar with dementia because my mom had this Dx and I was her care giver. Did not see myself getting this . I was a multi- tasker. Learning to adjust to my new life is not easy mentally and physically. Most difficulty with STM and this head fog which can be a good and a bad feeling especially when driving. I take arthritis medication daily to help take the edge off but my doctor is not in agreement and has no recommendation. Does anyone here experience this, do you have any recommendations?
Thank you in advance!😍

Welcome, Fresh Start. It is important to search for medical causes of memory loss, of which there are many. Were you tested for thyroid or vitamin B12 problems? Check your arthritis medications and other meds for memory loss as a side effect. Were you tested in an overnight sleep lab for sleep apnea? This can be a cause of daytime fogginess. Of course, if you are not alert, you should not drive or do anything that requires alertness. Did you apply for disability payments after leaving your work? There will be adjustments, but there are steps to take to make your life easier. Please keep reading and keep posting, Fresh Start.

Iris thank you for your response, encouragement and suggestions. All of my test mention above were normal. Will review side effects of my medications. Did not apply for disability payments from job. Took early retirement.😪Taking one day at a time.

Some medications can have some crazy side effects. We thought we lost our mum cognitively, when she went onto medication for lung cancer. They changed her medication and Mum got her mind back. Always pays to check the medication first.

Read about the Beers List. These are common meds that can be problematic in older adults.

I was in a sleep lab 3 different times and
said I had moderate sleep apnea and
need one of those breathing machines.
My dementia is making my sleep apnea worse.
