One step forward , ten step back !

Guardianship process is still underway .. Protection Mandate in Canada

last month was rather smooth, she started Risperidone .25mg once a day it seemed to calm her paranoia, but now looks like it is wearing off..doctor will increase the dosage

The geriatric doctor who did all the testing has advised the Driving Bureau by letter to remove her driving permit

The doctor wanted to meet with her to give her the information beforehand and prepare her

She cancelled twice , refused to see her (like if she knew she would get bad news)

and finally the shit hit the fan yesterday when she received a letter from the driving bureau telling her that her driving license was revoked because of Dementia , it was heartbreaking to hear her read the medical reason…

she is convinced my sister’s orchestrated the whole thing, that the doctor is in on it, that they want to declare her crazy , put het away and take all her money , she repeats , she will never give us POA for those exact reasons , she will not let any of us into her apartment and is frantically looking for a 2 year old doctor paper that says she has no cognitive impairment.

I tried to calm her , to no avail.. don’t know what to do

So sorry you weren't able to intercept that letter, what an insensitive bureaucratic nightmare. Don't see any reason the letter had to be worded that way--but that's probably a battle you don't have the energy to fight.

If her short-term memory is impaired, you can hope that she will also forget this quickly--though things with emotional impact are likely to persist.

You may need to disable her car (disconnect the battery cable, for example, or let the air out of the tires) so that she can't drive it--she may get so angry that she becomes defiant.
