Insane Turmoil
Hopefully someone has dealt with something similar. My wife's 92yo grandmother and 64 year old uncle (her son who always lived with her) both have dementia and his memory and comprehension are worse than hers his memory is about 5-15 minutes depending on what it is. Long story short we got guardianship over grandma and revealed this as they both have OCD over checking the bank account balances. He has never had long term gainful employment due to epilepsy and then a frontal lobotomy. When we tried for 4 hours with her 76 year old niece she attacked my wife multiple times and during the final attack she lost balance and fell over, so we had to have her committed while looking for a nursing home, well during this unpleasant process her son whom does not understand why he did not get guardianship because he is unintentionally negligent (feeding her dry cereal, frozen bagels and not caring for her health needs as he does not understand) has gotten her guardianship account frozen. He tried to kidnap her from the hospital. He broke a window out in the house last night and cops wouldn't do a darned thing, APS & law enforcement have been less than helpful in regard to him and he is spiraling out of control. This morning he called the sheriff and tried to file a missing person's report on his mother and they called us. His mom is in psych hold and we have no clue how long it will be before we can get assets unfrozen and place her in a LMCF. I am at my wits end with him especially as he is acting out and no help whatsoever. I feel like this is mentally taking a toll on me.

Who has guardianship over the son???

At moment no one and we will be working with family attorney tomorrow to see what a viable/suitable option is as he said its conflict of interest to be his and her guardian.

Good luck today. I hope the appointment brings some solutions.
A few years back there was a poster called Hawaii Girl whose mom's care needs were totally beyond her abilities. She took steps to legally have the state take custody of mom and assign her a professional guardian. Perhaps this is a solution here.
