Rivastigmine

Well things in my world change everyday - last night I was asking about Rixulti and tonight asking if anyone has been prescribed Rivastigmine. With a $500 copay for Rixulti I met with the doctor today and he changed the regimen to Rivastigmine patches. From my research (and for sure I am no doctor) It does not look like these are for the same symptoms… Originally put on Abilify but having severe headaches with that. We are weening off of it now and the delusions and hallucinations are really bad tonight. I can not see that Rivastigmine patches are going to help those symptoms since they are NOT antiphyschotic…

We do see the neurologist Monday as we are not to start the patches until Monday so it will be interesting to see what he says about that.

I realize PCP’s are not dementia specialist and I think being from a rural area that is probably even more true…should I just give up googling and learn to trust…

No. Definitely keep googling. You are your loved one's advocate. I would definitely talk to the neuro. Do you have access to a geripsych?
