My Mom Won't Eat

My mom has stopped eating even though she is able to still move around, bathe and dress herself and do some light housework. My dad is still alive and helps her around the house. Her weight has dropped to 75 pounds (she was about 115 most of her life) and she has lost 10 pounds in July 2022. She always was very weight conscious and my theory is that she is starving herself because she has control over that and not much else. Any suggestions on getting her to eat? She does seem to eat better around other people, so I am wondering a move to AL or MC would help with that.

Has she seen a doctor and been diagnosed with dementia? Other causes of weight loss need to be ruled out, and there are medications that can promote weight gain that might help. At 75 pounds, she is critically underweight. If other things have been addressed, you might need to consider a hospice evaluation. But at any rate, sounds like you need some medical input.
