Applying for Aid & Assistance Benefit from VA

Has anyone applied for Aid & Assistance from the VA for their parent? How long did it take for the VA to process the application? Were you able to obtain the A&A benefit while your parent was in memory care, or is it just for nursing home care?

Any advice in general?

I'm about to assemble an application for my mother, but I have a lot of questions about the application. The local VA office has a wait-time of several months before an appointment for help with the application will be available.

    I went through two different places. I went to the local VA clinic and I also found Veterans Benefit Counselor online for my state. You can also see if the facility or homecare business has a social worker that knows what is needed for the VA and can help you with forms as they may help other VA patients. I hope this helps
