ChatGPT wrote me a poem

I'm playing with ChatGPT today. I asked it "write a poem about life with a spouse in memory care". Here's what it gave me. I'm a bit spooked by the AI part of it, but the poem is fantastic.

In halls of softened shadows, where memories gently sway,

A dance of love unfolding in the twilight's tender gray.

A whispered vow remembered, though the mind may gently drift,

In the embrace of twilight, love's enduring, constant gift.

Through the labyrinth of moments, where time may lose its hold,

A symphony of shared stories, in each tender gaze retold.

In the tapestry of togetherness, where threads of memories weave,

A connection unbroken, a love that will not leave.

In the garden of patience, where blooms of understanding grow,

With each forgotten sunrise, a new chance for love to show.

For every stolen memory, a treasure still remains,

In the heart's quiet chamber, where love forever reigns.

With each fading sunset, a canvas painted bright,

With hues of shared laughter and the warmth of shared delight.

In the dance of recollections, where steps may lose their way,

Love's melody persists, an unwavering serenade.

Through the mist of fading echoes, where words may gently fade,

The silent language of devotion, in every gesture laid.

In the sanctuary of closeness, where hearts entwined abide,

A love that transcends forgetting, an anchor in the tide.

So, in the sacred space of memory care's gentle hold,

Love persists, unyielding, more precious than pure gold.

In the tender twilight whispers, where moments softly sigh,

A life entwined, a journey shared, beneath the vast, remembering sky.

I just learned about ChatGPT this week but I've only used it for work purposes. I'm going to have to give it more credit after reading this!

Wow, that’s an amazingly tender poem by AI. It is kind of unnerving that a robot of sorts could come up with something like this. I’ll have to go back and look at ChatGPT again.

    I read this every morning

    AN ALZHEIMER'S POEM

Do not ask me to remember.

Don't try to make me understand.

Let me rest and know you're with me.

Kiss my cheek and hold my hand.

    I'm confused beyond your concept.

I am sad and sick and lost.

All I know is that I need you To be with me at all cost.

Do not lose your patience with me.

Do not scold or curse or cry.

I can't help the way I'm acting, Can't be different 'though I try.

Just remember that I need you, That the best of me is gone.

Please don't fail to stand beside me,

Love me 'till my life is done.

I don’t quite understand how it works, but obviously, it works! I especially like the last 4 lines. On a lighter note, my daughter, the perpetual student, was “ up to her ears in alligators “ trying to navigate a grad class last summer. Just for fun, she asked ChatGPT to write a paper for her; her grade was 100. The whole experience spooked her out; she dreams about getting expelled.

Josey, I hope you’re doing well; I think about you often. Hoping your Thanksgiving is a good one. Mine is quieter, lonelier, but happy nonetheless. I roasted a turkey; my grandson (15) said it looked like a chicken- - he could eat the whole thing himself. I had to run out for ham. Never a dull moment here; that’s good. Stay strong.

LOL - a chicken sized turkey! Good thing you got the ham to go with it!

I was using ChatGPT last night to help me write letters to parents at my school to support learning goals. What I expected to take me hours to do, I finished in about 45 minutes with ChatGPT. That included the time to figure out what I was doing with the website. And it was EXACTLY what I wanted. I was a bit creeped out. I teach special education, so just for fun I asked it to write a present levels statement for a student whose IEP I had just finished. It wrote it beautifully, and even came to the same conclusions I did for new goals. That's when I was totally creeped out. The poem was the icing on the cake. I will definitely be using it in the future.

Things here are in a holding pattern. DH is well cared for in his placement, no changes in the last 6 months or so. He no longer walks or really even moves. Although he has started crossing and uncrossing his legs in the last couple of weeks, which causes him to wiggle around in bed and slide down in his wheelchair. They've been working on ways to keep him from sliding down, and it seems under control now. DS and I are headed out in a few minutes to spend lunch with him (I'll feed him, he's on a pureed diet) and a Thanksgiving visit. Don't think too hard about what a pureed Thanksgiving meal looks like.

    Enjoy your Thanksgiving, everyone.
