GPS Tracker?

Hi, I'm supporting my sister-in-law, who is caregiver for my 62-yo brother, who has early-onset Alzheimer's for about the last 4-5 years, but it is now turning a corner in its progression. He is getting frustrated easily and wandering off. They live on 15 acres out in the country and he knows his way around generally, but has gotten lost of couple of times. Today, he wandered away when they were getting gas in town. Has anyone had success with a GPS tracker? I saw one that is in inserts in shoes and you pay a monitoring subscription. He's had trackers on both his phone and his watch, but the tracker got in the way of putting the phone in his pocket so he took off the tracker, he forgets his phone. He can't wear a watch; he loses them. Thank you for any help you can give.

I would look on Amazon for the different types of them and read reviews. I’m dreading that stage!!!!

No tracker will replace closer supervision. It sounds like he probably shouldn’t be brought along on errands, etc, or car rides because of this behavior. They may need to reconsider their living situation to keep him safe. A tracker won’t prevent all tragedies, sadly. I have a Jiobit tracker for our daughter with autism, and by the time it alerts my phone that she’s left home, for instance, when we walk to her bus stop, she would easily have walked into traffic or a similar danger. I use it as a last resort but truly I think his behavior is telling you he may be heading for memory care. Sorry for being the messenger.

It might make sense to contact local law enforcement to see if they have any programs for those with dementia/children with special needs that include a device for tracking.

He probably needs human supervision and doors secured and alarmed at home. Riding in the backseat with child safety locks on would make the car situation safer too.

I tried a Samsung smartwatch for my dh, but the tech is beyond him. Now, I'm comparing Theora and AngelSense, leaning toward Theora. They both seem to have good GPS trackers.
