Urinary Issues
Hi All. My MIL has been in Depends Maximum Absorbency for about a year. No bm issues so far thank goodness- just incontinence. Getting her to change them is a fight every. single. time. There's name calling, hitting, arguing that leaves me shaking and exhausted. I consider it a successful day if I can get her to change them once. She doesn't understand the steps to change them- she'll take off wet pants and put a dry Depends over the wet one then put on a clean pair of pants. It's so sad and breaks my heart. I would love to hear how you all deal with bathroom issues and the defiance that comes with getting our LO to do something they don't want to do. I also would like to know what products/ pads/ solutions you're using that are working for you. I have considered introducing pads as an extra barrier inside the Depends so she could remove and replace those. Thank you all for sharing your stories. So grateful I found you.

Hi Mary,
No tricks for change outs, I'm sorry.
Yes, a booster pad may help. Sometimes getting them on a toileting schedule can help. I found that the Depends weren't absorbent enough and mom would sometimes take out any pre-placed booster pads. One of the posters here recommended these:

I moved my mom to the most absorbent ones and am pleased. They are a bit expensive, but they absorb a lot and are soft-sided.
