I’m Still Me! A TED talk by Rebecca Chopp PhD on living well with Alzheimer’s.

I am posting this as I await a follow-up in a few weeks with my neurologist regarding my MRI. Watching this boosted my spirits.

This is an inspiring talk by Rebecca Chopp, PhD, a retired college president and religion scholar, about how she crafts a vital life after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.  While Dr Chopp is an exceptional person, and you can think, well I can’t do that, you can tailor her approach to create your way to live with Alzheimer’s.

You can preorder her book on Amazon “Still Me: Accepting Alzheimer’s without Losing Yourself,” by Rebecca Chopp, PhD

This is a good video. In a few moments she promotes the same tactics that we have been promoting on this board, which we call Best Practices. She starts off by saying, fix your attitude. I call this "develop a philosophy" about living with dementia.

I hope more PWDs and even caregivers will take the time to view this talk.

I remember you posting about mindset. It’s very important! I find I waver acceptance and then worry /depression on a daily basis. I feel much better when I’m socializing and busy. I think my depression will be better if I can figure out a plan for care down the road.

Rebecca used to be president at the college in my town. A mutual friend has helped her with the book, and planning in person and on line speaking engagements. I’m going to try to set up an online event here at my church and our bookstore. I’ll also contact local area Alzheimer’s Association. They have a caregivers and early stage dementia support group.
