Welcome, Jazzy. You’ve come to a good place. Any issue you are having, likely oodles of people here have had a similar issue and can talk through it with you.

ps: recommend not using real names on a public forum.

I am fairly new to this group. My husband and I have been married nearly 40 years and have 4 daughters. My husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at the age of 62, four years ago. He now has vascular dementia and seizures. This has been such a difficult road for us and looking for any insight at to what to expect going forward.
I am his caregiver and can see things starting to decline. All of the research I have done says that life expectancy for someone with Vasc. dem. is 5 years or less. He also has a pacemaker and we have seen that his pacemaker is working more than it did prior to the vascular. This all makes sense as the blood flow is becoming more limited and causing his heart to work harder.

Hello Deitra, welcome to posting. Life expectancy varies a lot by the individual and their general health condition so it is hard to say. You have come to a good place for support.

My DH was diagnosed in 2021. So sorry about your husband's diagnosis. The book "The 36 Hour Day" really helped me after my husband's diagnosis. If you're reading posts, you already know to get your legal affairs in order. Get a DPOA and talk to an Elder Care Attorney. Don't wait.
