Update my surgery - Mom’s fall

My knee replacement surgery was a week ago yesterday. I had my second PT session today. I’m cleared to walk unassisted inside our house ( it’s a ranch style, so no stairs needed). Still have to use a walker outside. I tried to use a cane in therapy but I wasn’t coordinated enough to actually use the cane for support. That needs to change - because I am sure they want me to use an assist( walker /cane) outside for a while since ice and snow happens in my area. I’m down to one pain pill at night - more to get to sleep than anything. Sleeping on my back is hard. Knee still swollen and stiff. Bruise goes to my ankle ( and is normal).

Mom has forgotten how she hurt herself and sometimes forgets that I had surgery. Physical and cognitive therapy has been ordered and will happen there at the AL. I called her today and her main concern for me - how soon I would be available to help her. Because it seems like forever to her. Worrying about her next doctor appointment ( a month from now) and how she was going to get there. So I was very vague about my progress. I’m not going out there until I am no longer using a walker outside my house and am driving myself.

Editted to add addendum: just got a message from my electrophysiologist, after he reviewed my 30 day heart monitor. Adding a beta blocker to my medications.

I think you're smart to pace yourself in terms of getting out to see your mom. It sounds like you're making good progress, which is wonderful to hear. Be careful with that snow and ice!
