My mom is dealing with memory loss and heading toward dementia/Alzheimer’s. We found an aneurysm and hoped that would help… but her memory is getting worse, but what I see most is she is so easily agitated and frustrated. She can’t remember talking to me or telling me something 5 minutes ago. Getting in a car she is sometimes terrified. She stopped driving. I see her whole personality changing and have no idea how to help her or deal with it so she doesn’t see me get upset. How have y’all coped dealing with your parent(s)?

Hi kjwright - welcome to 'here', but sorry for the reason. To see mom like that is of course upsetting!

    Good she stopped driving...

First things - do you have DPOA (power of attorney) and HIPPA accesses in place? If not, please talk to CLEC (elder care lawyer). If HIPPA is not in place, you can still tell her doctor your concerns and what is happening, they just won't be able to get back to you on it. Do tell her doc she is easily agitated and frustrated. Part of that could be a dementia, but could also be depression. Also - make sure she sees a doc for a good check-up - to rule out other things it could be, as there is so much that can mimic dementia.

And do check back - much support and information here...
