Michael Ellenbogen wanted to encourage anyone interested to make a public comment so that the Advisory Council is better informed about the concerns, suggestions, and insights of caregivers and people living with dementia.

ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT

The next meeting of the Advisory Council on Alzheimer's Research, Care, and Services will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, from 9:30am to 4:30pm EST. The meeting will be a hybrid of in-person and virtual, and will streamed live on http://www.hhs.gov/live.

During the meeting, the Advisory Council will hear updates from the field on implementation of disease-modifying therapies for Alzheimer’s disease and outstanding research questions. A panel will present on the latest research on diagnosis and development of treatments for other populations and causes of dementia.

Public Input: Time will be allocated on the agenda to hear public comments from 4:00pm to 4:30pm. The time for oral comments will be limited to two (2) minutes per individual. Individuals who wish to make a public comment should register by emailing your name and organizational affiliation to [email protected] no later than Wednesday, January 17. Registered commenters will receive both a dial-in number and a link to choose from to join the meeting virtually. Comments can also be submitted to be read for you during the Public Comment session; they must be received by January 17 (please note on the email you wish for them to be read for you at the meeting). Comments can also be submitted to be shared with just the Advisory Council (please note on the email that your comments are for the record only).

NOTE: There may be a 30-45 second delay in the livestream video presentation of the conference. For this reason, if you have pre-registered to submit a public comment, it is important to connect to the meeting by 3:45pm, to ensure that you do not miss your name and allotted time when called. If you miss your name and allotted time to speak, you may not be able to make your public comment. All participant audio lines will be muted for the duration of the meeting and only unmuted by the Host at the time of the participant’s public comment. Should you have questions during the meeting, email [email protected] and someone will respond to your message as quickly as possible.

In order to ensure accuracy, please submit a written copy of oral comments for the record by email to [email protected] by Tuesday, January 23. These comments will be shared on the website and with the Advisory Council, and reflected in the meeting minutes. Written comments may also be submitted for the record. Comments can be mailed to:

Thank you both. I encourage all who can, to take this opportunity to give voice to the realities of our experiences and those of our loved ones with dementia. Will do so if I can.

This is great. Thanks for posting this.

I'll try to apply soon enough in order to squeeze into the short half hour for public comments, but I'll definitely send in written comments.
