Hi everyone,

I am new on here.

I recently lost my Mom to Mixed Dementia (AD/VD).

I have been fluctuating between anger and crying.

I find satisfaction in expressing anger to the particular individuals in the medical system (mainly doctors and nurses) who I feel failed my Mom and me. I understand systems are currently over-taxed, but this disease is not a new one! We need to come together as an affected community and put money and resources towards (doctors and nurses) early detection and diagnosis!

I feel awful for everyone who's also been fluctuating between anger and crying.

What an awful, disgusting, insidious disease.

All my love and compassion.

I’m so sorry you lost your dear mother and to this heart wrenching disease. I hope as more and more people become aware of dementia and the affects on the patient and their families, there will be more specialized solutions for treatment and care. Thanks for sharing!

I am so sorry for all the losses you've suffered along the way and the loss of your mom.

I was astonished at my own lack of awareness of how this disease impacts people. Much love and light to you as you find the path of healing and grieving.

Thank you very much for your comments and support m&m and darcytg. I really appreciate it.

M&M: Yes agree! (Regarding your comment about there needing to be more specialized solutions for treatment and care). and darcytg: I am astonished that there is not more specialized doctors, nurses, treatment and care options available now. We didn't know she had Dementia (and that Dementia killed you) until 4 days before she passed.

I am not sure about you (and your beautiful story) but Mom's doctor plain did not show up for her. I am very angry about that.

For example: She was exhibiting Dementia signs and symptoms (obsessing, repetition, depression, stubbornness) but her doctor just passed it off/shrugged it off (regular signs of aging, and honestly, agism). ,Isn't that why doctors are paid the big bucks? As folks age, they need to come in (and be encouraged by their doctor) to come in regularly for check-ups. My doctor does this for me and I'm 47. :)

I cannot believe that my beautiful, angel of a mother was treated like this. Christ. She deserves SO much better, we all do. F&*%#@$$K doctors and medical system. Show up, go to work, and earn your goddam money.

my mom was in Stanford Hospital for 11 days with flu and UTI. dementia caused more health issues. She passed away 13 days after discharge. Doctors are not aware of this this debilitating disease snd how to treat it.

Yes, I lost my mom to dementia mostly, she was late stage 7 but in the end Covid took her, they’re both on her death certificate. I’m so sorry that you lost your mom too, to this disgusting disease. Please accept my humble condolences.
